Arezzo
Ancient city of art, Arezzo still preserve most of the medieval walls and doors that once surrounded it. On the hilltop we can admire the town hall, the ancient fortress, the gothic cathedral.
Arezzo is the city of gold: in the last decades the city has developed its economy around the manufacture of gold, becoming the first district of the industry in Italy.
Arezzo is also known for the famous Antique Trade Fair, which takes place every first Saturday and Sunday of the month, and is the largest in Italy, with over 500 exhibitors; first born in the national territory (1968), it is the most known and visited. Here visitors can take a dip in the past, trying the pleasure of discovery, in an awesome variety of objects from various ages.
Finally we can recommend a visit to the folkloristic Giostra del Saracino, a thrilling ride among the representatives of the city’s neighborhoods, wearing amazing medieval costumes.
Cortona
Cortona is a small charming town in Valdichiana (province of Arezzo).
The city, enclosed by stone walls dating back to Etruscan and Roman times, sits on the top of a hill of about 600 meters . This dominant position over the valley offers a spectacular view from all over the town of the surrounding valley and even Lake Trasimeno. You should not miss a visit to the beautiful Santa Margherita Sanctuary, patron of the city, and to the Girifalco Fortress. Cortona is located at about 60 km from Casentino, passing from Arezzo city.
Florence
Florence does not need any introduction.
UNESCO world heritage site and cradle of the Renaissance, it is universally recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, thanks to its many monuments and museums, such as the Duomo, Santa Croce, the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Pitti. Florence is about 50 Km from Casentino.
Siena
Siena, placed in the middle of Tuscany and surrounded by gentle hills, is one of the loveliest medieval city in Italy.
The heart of the city is the central square known as Il Campo, popular worldwide for the famous Palio, a horse race run around the square two times every summer.
Siena is located at about 100 km from Casentino.
